Ōura Cathedral (Ōura Church) is a historic Catholic church located in the Ōura district of Nagasaki, Japan. Built in the 1860s, it is the oldest surviving Christian church in the country, dedicated to the 26 Martyrs of Japan, early Christians executed in 1597. Renowned for its Gothic-style architecture and stained glass, the church played a key role in revealing the existence of Japan’s “Hidden Christians.” Today, it is recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Nagasaki region.
